Posted by Ms Gregg on 07 Aug 2019

This summer, AMP SCITT delivered the Internship Programme which is a paid programme aiming to attract high quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) undergraduate students into Maths and Physics teaching. The 17 interns have worked in a number of local secondary schools including Deyes High, Formby High, Ormskirk High, Childwall, Holy Family and Buile Hill Visual Arts College. The Interns ran science projects, offered intensive support for children in Maths, and helped with external trips and sports events.

The Internship programme has developed a number of transferable skills such as leadership, confidence, organisation and creatively.

‘I have enjoyed coming up with new ideas and examples to break down questions for students which has helped them understand the concepts better’. Ciaran Kyle (Ex Deyes High Student)

‘I improved my communication skills by ensuring I had clarity in explanations to students.’ Lois Pritchard

‘I have been working with maths and Science departments supporting in lesson with small group work and 1:1 support’. I have also been on the Big Bang North West trip. Thank you for the experience!’ Amy Baker (Ex Deyes High student).

Congratulations to all of our Interns and thank you for making an impact on our students in the local area.
